Duration and Frequency of sessions

Individual therapy usually lasts between 10 and 25 sessions, with a frequency of between once and twice a week.

Blocks of therapy, for example consisting of a week of two-hour sessions, can also be arranged. Such blocks have proven useful to those staying in Munich for shorter periods of time, as may be the case when one member of a couple seeking counseling lives at a distance from Munich. Intensive blocks of therapy can also be particularly effective in working through traumatic experiences or in treating phobias.

Sessions of couple’s counseling usually last 90 minutes at a frequency of once every one or two weeks. Often, 1-5 sessions are sufficient.

Office Hours

Therapy is available Monday through Thursday from 9:30 am to 8:30pm and on Friday afternoon from around 2pm to 5pm. Time-slots for new patients seeking therapy can usually be found within a week.


Charges are according to the so-called GOP (“Gebührenordnung für Psychotherapeuten”), which is the officially recognized scale for the cost of psychotherapy in Germany. Private insurance policies, which generally include psychotherapy, normally cover the complete cost ofindividual treatment. (Insurances are usually glad to inform patients by telephone in this regard.) The charge for individual treatment is 100.55 € (insurance) and 100.00 € (personal payment) per hour. The charge for couple’s Counseling is 200.00 € for a typical session of 90 min.
